Begonia for Kids
The little monster found a Begonia he really wanted so we got started this week. We tried waited for a sunny day, but that did not work. One rainy afternoon we went out into the carport and got start on his little project. Of course he would choose a red waxy begonia with red flowers and leaves. The pot was a bonus. He took it from me. It was a gift for Mother's Day from church. Our church was amazing this year giving all mothers these cute little red pots, a candle, fingernail file and a packet of seeds. Since I would not be able to celebrate Mother's Day without the little monster, I was more than happy to let him do what he wanted with it.
So we found a way to beat the rain and stormy weather. Now it is sunny just in time for fun day at school. Thankfully there are only two days left of first grade. I am very proud to say my little monster had all A's this year and we are both ready for the week to end so we can start summer break full of writing, reading, fishing, summer trips and of course taking care of our plants! What are your plans for the summer? Any ideas on fun summer trips for seven year olds? We have plenty of ideas but are always open for new or better ones.

say hi to your son, congratulations on getting all A's. i'll sent him red balsam and red cockscomb seed after i harvest it. It should have a new home where it is appreciated. he can sow the seed next spring.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds wonderful! He was so excited when I told him at 'fun day' today at school. He told me to have a few pictures ready for him to look at when he gets home so he can learn more about them since he has never planted them before.

DeleteCongratulations to the little monster for getting all A's. He should continue that throughout. Perhaps he can go for those camps or science camps which completely focus on nature and plants and plant-biology. I know there are such camps for kids here.
ReplyDeleteThat begonia and the red pot really looks nice together. I could understand those gifts from the church -- plant the seeds in the pot, then file the dirty nails. What's the significance of the candle? Anyway, they were lovely gifts.
It was a poem something like ~ a pot and seeds to plant, nourish and help grow into dependency, a file to file away the rough edges, a candy bar because everyone needs a break and a candle to remind you to stop and smell the rose and enjoy the little things that do not last forever. Of course I am not great at putting in into a poem ;) I am looking into camps and a little adventure up north with a museum that takes little ones on a real dino dig for a few hours! He very active... I need a second job!
